Soft Girl emerged as a TikTok subculture around 2019, positioned as a counterweight to the darker E-Girl aesthetic and the polished VSCO Girl. Its visual language is pastel and Y2K-revival: baby pink, lilac, butter yellow and mint; oversized fluffy cardigans, mom jeans with crop tops, mini skirts, lacy hair clips, scrunchies, plush bag charms. Beauty is heavy on cheek blush (often extending across the nose), pastel eyeshadow, lip gloss and faux freckles.
